Experience the crisp mountain air and scenic wonder of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Don’t miss the 67th Annual Wildflower Pilgrimage, April 11th – 15th. The National Park Service says the park is home to over 1,500 kinds of flowering plants, more than in any other North American Nation park states, (National Park Service, 2017).
Each spring, the park hosts the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage, a week-long festival of programs and guided walks and hikes that explore the wondrous diversity of life in the park. Most programs are outdoors in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. All programs are held, rain or shine (Gatlinburg Department of Tourism, 2017).
Other events happening in April are Hands on Gatlinburg (April 7th), Smoky Mountain Wine Fest (April 7th) and the Great Smoky Easter Arts and Crafts Show (April 12th). Hands on Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Weekend provides arts and crafts lovers with the opportunity to own a beautifully crafted piece of artwork that they themselves made. During the Smoky Mountain Wine Fest, you’ll be able to sample wines from Tennessee wineries along with small dish fare from some of the best restaurants in the Smoky Mountains. While at the Great Smoky Easter Arts & Crafts Show, you’ll find unique handcrafted gifts and products produced by members of Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community.
