Strolling down Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg, it’s hard to miss the shiny new addition to the shopping scene—Town Center Plaza. This two-story building is a fresh spot for visitors and locals alike, boasting unique shops and plenty of charm.
As we stepped through the main entrance, it was clear this place was made for exploration. The clean, modern design is inviting, with a slick, shiny elevator, as well as a staircase leading up to the second floor and natural light pouring in through large windows. Naturally, we started our adventure by heading upstairs.
On the second level, we found two spaces: one bustling with activity and the other still gearing up for its debut. The toy store, The Toy Chest Company, though not quite open yet, already looked like it would be a hit. The centerpiece? An animatronic dinosaur that roared to life as we walked by, promising fun for kids (and kids at heart). Shelves were being stocked with everything from classic board games to quirky, must-have toys, making us eager to come back when the doors officially open.
Next door, the future home of China Bazaar was a work in progress. A peek through the windows revealed little more than empty shelves. If you have ever been to a China Bazaar, you know what is in store – a collection of swords, knives, and novelty items of all types. It’s a space to watch for those who enjoy unique finds and collectibles.
Back downstairs, we dove into the shops already open. The t-shirt store surprised us with its size—it’s practically a Gatlinburg souvenir superstore. Wall-to-wall racks featured designs for every taste, from colorful Smoky Mountain landscapes to cheeky slogans that will get a laugh around the campfire. If you’re looking for the perfect Gatlinburg keepsake, this store won’t disappoint.
Next door, we stepped into a sock lover’s paradise, Tennessee Socks. This shop takes socks to the next level, with patterns ranging from playful animals to pop culture icons. They even carry cozy house shoes, making it easy to upgrade your comfort game. Whether you’re shopping for a fun gift or just want to treat your feet, this store has you covered.
Town Center Plaza might be the new kid on the block, but it’s shaping up to be a must-visit spot in the heart of Gatlinburg. With its central location and exciting mix of shops, it’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon—whether you’re picking up a few souvenirs, treating yourself to novelty socks, or waiting for that dinosaur to roar again.
So, if you’re planning your next trip to Gatlinburg, make sure Town Center Plaza is on your list. By then, every shop in the building will likely be open for business. Town Center Plaza is an easy walk from Edgewater Hotel. From our front entrance, just cross over River Road and walk straight to Parkway via the parking lot across the street, and you’re there!
